VIDEO: Rose Gold Eye Tutorial

The Naked 3 palette is basically sold as a rose gold palette, but none of the shadows are really rose gold unto themselves. This look uses a couple of the shadows to create a rose gold shadow for myself!

Video: Perfect Sick Day Makeup | No-Makeup Makeup Tutorial

Hello again, just wanted to share my latest video with you all. I perfected this makeup look the last time I was sick about a month ago. I don’t like to look for feel too made up when I’m feeling sick, because I feel like I’ll just rub my eyes and spread glitter everywhere, but I don’t want to go makeup free, because then I feel even worse, because I know I look as sick as I feel. I think this look strikes a good balance, hiding imperfections and brightening, without being heavy or messy, and having great staying power.

If you’re interested, click here to watch in HD on YouTube, or watch below:

Thanks so much for watching, and please be sure to subscribe, like this video, and comment! Have an awesome weekend!

WISHLIST: Current Wants & Spring/Summer Stuff

A post without a video!? Shocking, I know. However, wishlist posts don’t really seem as conducive to a video format as posts where I actually have the things I want to talk about.

Anyways, there is a bunch of stuff I want right now, but I’ll try not to let this get too long. I do want to share a few beauty wants, a few fashion ones, and a couple of random things. So let’s just get into that.

Beauty:

1. MAC Cyber

Image from missdelirium.com

Not exactly a spring/summer colour, but I’ve been wanting it for months now… I will own it eventually >_>

2. xoBeauty lashes in The Romantic

Image from eleseaesthete.com

Soft and pretty, but also slightly intense. Also, made by my favourite YouTuber of all time, so why wouldn’t I want to give her my money?

3. xoBeauty brushes

Image from themoderngirl.com

Like above, made by Shaaanxo on YouTube, who I adore. Plus, these are supposed to be Sigma quality, are slightly cheaper, and I’ll be giving Shannon my money instead of someone else. And I’d like some really good brushes!

4. Dove GoFresh Spray in Pomegranate and Lemon Verbena

Image from polyvore.com

This smells amazing, and my tester is almost completely gone! I was looking at it in Target the other day, and the same scented body wash smells amazing too. Mmm…

5. Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

Image from us.rimmellondon.com

I think I’ll actually be getting this from my little sister soon because she somewhat recently got a job, and years ago she used up a whole tube of my foundation on a doll’s face, and ever since she’s realised how mean what she did was, she’s promised she would buy me a foundation when she could. It was just a drugstore one, so of course I’m only asking for drugstore in return =P

6. Essie Millionails

Image from essie.com

My nails are just not the same without this stuff, and I wants it in my life again…

7. NARS Habanera

I would not likely have picked this out myself, but I had it put on me by a NARS makeup artist, and it is just gorgeous! I am so in love, and I wants it even though it's ridiculously priced at $39.

Fashion:

1. New Vans

Image from zappos.com

My Vans are my all time favourite shoes, and the soles are dying both inide and out. I’ll wear them as long as possible, of course, but they are desperately in need of replacement, as they are less waterproof than ever…

2. Peplum shirt

Image from asos.com

Asos especially has some really cute, not stupidly short peplum tops that look so cute and comfy. And I’d really like to get one or two, because they’re basically just fancier t-shirts. Yay comfy/fancy!

3. Green army jacket thing

Image from thestylishpony.blogspot.ca

I think these are cute, and comfy looking, and I have for a while. One day…

4. Maxi skirt(?)

Image from glamourtalkz.blogspot.ca

I’m not sure about this, because it probably isn’t a trend that would work on me, but I think they are so cute and comfy looking. Maybe.

5. Another kimono

Image from garageclothing.com

These are literally the best things ever. I need at least one more, probably in a lighter colour, though the one above is really cute.

6. New Flats

 Image from aldoshoes.com

Black, technically. More of a need than a want. I’d rather have some fun, cute, coloured flats, but I don’t really have black flats, so I kinda need some.

Random (apparently tea wants):

1. Buddha’s Blend tea from DavidsTea

Image from pinterest.com

This tea is just soooo delicious! My friend has it, and it just smells like fuzzy peaches, or peach juice, but it’s not sweet at all, and it’s sooo mmmmm!

3. Grape Expectations tea from DavidsTea

Image from steepster.com

This was DavidsTea’s tea of the day on St. Patrick’s day, when they were giving away cups of tea to people wearing green, and this tea is sooooo good just very slightly sweetened. It’s like grape koolaid with out as much calories, and with antioxidants!

And so that’s everything for right now. I think these posts are fun, so I hope you enjoyed this one as well. Let me know in the comments what kinds of things you’re wanting to purchase lately!

Thanks for reading!

MetropolisxKlout Spring Fashion Event

I’ve been on Klout probably for a couple of years now, but up until a couple weeks ago it had been completely and utterly useless. I’ve never got any perks that didn’t seem like spam, and there isn’t much to do on the site itself to try to get a better score, unlike Influenster, which allows you to be active on its own site, as well as ranking your social media scores.

But this post is not a rant about the uselessness of Klout, instead, I wanted to talk a little bit about this cool event I got to go to because of Klout!

I’m pretty sure they invited just about anyone in Vancouver who uses Klout, which probably isn’t all that many, because it was pretty busy, and I was only at the first event. They ran the same event at two different times. There was a bunch of free treats, samples, a big prize draw, and a (slightly lame) fashion presentation. For a better look at the event itself, how busy it was, and to see what the presentation looked like, don’t miss my vlog from the event (click here to watch on Youtube. Sorry, I messed up exporting this video, so no HD. Next time!):

And now that you’ve seen that, I just wanted to give you a better look at some of the stuff I got from the event. . .

As we entered, we were given these packages:

IMG_0833

Which held our free giftcards (everyone got $10 to use in the mall), as well as our ticket for the prize draws, and our treat coupons:

The mini cupcakes were provided by Cupcakes, which I’m pretty sure is a Vancouver based brand. The hors d’oeuvres weren’t anything too special; there were 4 options including (half) samosas, a meditteranean wrap, an asian veggie wrap/roll thing, and cheesy mushroom tarts. I had the mushroom tart and samosa, and both were pretty good.

2014-05-08 18.45.53

Mocktail, as you may already know, is a fancy name for fizzy juice drinks; Brit had the Pineapple Sunrise, which I think was pineapple, sprite, orange juice, and grenadine, and I had Midnight Pomegranate (or something like that), which had pomegranate juice, blueberry juice, sprite, and cranberry juice. It was alright… coulda used some rum =P Finally, the chocolates were provided by Purdy’s! Nom! They gave us a small salted caramel chocolate (which was aaaamaaaazing!) as well as a chocolate lollipop thing:

IMG_0842

One of the tables at the event was The Bay, which was displaying Shiseido and Nars, who signed us up for complimentary facials (Shiseido) and makeup applications (Nars), which we went to do last Saturday:

IMG_0843

L’Occitane was also there, and were signing people up for their newsletter and giving out free samples of their body cream:

IMG_0846

My favourite, of course, was the Benefit table! They were doing mini makeup applications. My girl, whose name she either didn’t tell me, or else I completely blanked on it, put HighBeam and ChaCha Tint on me, and was very chatty and friendly.

2014-05-08 18.51.39

Oh, and I got another sample of They’re Real mascara:

IMG_0847

Did I mention we also got super cool/corny floral headband things?

2014-05-08 18.34.46

By the way, if you like my makeup in the picture above, I have a tutorial for that look (minus the orange lips) going up next Saturday, so don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel to see that as soon as it’s out!

So that’s everything! Let me know if you were at the event, or if you’ve ever got anything cool from Klout. Thanks for reading!

Influenster Broadway Nails imPRESS Press-on Manicure VoxBox Review

Hello again! Just a quick post today to show you the VoxBox I got in the mail today from Influenster! Just before I start, I should mention that while this box was sent to me for free, any and all opinions are my own and 100% honest, as always.
Here’s a picture of the box:
2014-05-12 14.28.45
As you can see, it was just a really small box this time, but this is totally free, so I’m in no way complaining. If you’ve been reading a while, you may also know that I’ve already received a set of these nails from Influenster before, as well as a long pair in a giveaway before that. So I’m not inexperienced with this product.
I decided to put on the crackly ones first, since I don’t love them as much, and wanted to save the pretty pink ones. Here’s a look at them on my nails:
2014-05-12 20.22.42
These aren’t super long like the black ones I used the first time I tried these, but they also aren’t super short. Though I did have to trim a couple nails so that they wouldn’t hang out from under these ones. I love the shape and length of them, though.
I have a particularly hard time growing my nails out equally and keeping them in similar shapes (some nails love to be square while others want to look like circles!). As such, I love how these look on my hands. Even these, which are sort of a messy pattern, make my hands look more cared for and… sophisticated? I don’t think that’s the right word, but it’s close.
Anyways, for those who have never used or heard of these, the imPress Manicures are press on nails from Broadway Nails, but they are pre-glued, so there’s no messing around with liquid glue or adhesive stickers, like with other nails. So the most work you’re going to do is sorting through the nails to find the ones that fit your fingers best. Each pack comes with 24 nails—in 12 sizes—and I have no trouble finding matches for my nails, even though I have super tiny nails. They also have some that are about 2 sizes larger than the ones I chose for my thumbs, so there shouldn’t be any trouble fitting larger hands either.
I personally have some very oddly shaped nails, with curves in weird places, or some that are really flat, and so other fake nails I’ve tried have been uncomfortable, or downright painful, as they tried to pinch or flatten my natural nails to their shape, but these nails do no such thing. They are perfectly comfortable as long as you don’t put the edge of the nail over your cuticles (which can pinch a little, though not too badly).
These also come with a tiny file and alcohol pad to make sure that you nails are clean and that the glue will stick well. Once you’ve found your nail sizes and cleaned off your nails with the alcohol pad, you just peel the plastic backing off the nails and apply them to your own. And that’s all. No waiting for drying or setting, and they last for ages. My first ones lasted me at least a week, and I only pulled off my second pair early because the pattern bugged me. (For more pictures of what comes in each package, check out my original review of this product)
So yeah! That’s about all I have to say for that. Do let me know if you have any questions, if you’ve ever used this brand of press-on nails, or if you received this box as well! I’d love to hear from you, or see which ones you got in your own box.
Thanks for reading, and have an awesome rest of the week!

March/April 2014 Favourites!

Hello again, lovely readers!

You may have noticed that last month I didn’t post a favourites post or video for March, which was because I didn’t really have much to share. However, I wanted to make sure that I did one this month, so I’m combining my favourites from the past two months for this post. I don’t have a lot to share, but let’s just get into it.

I did also film a video, if you’re intersted, so as always, click here to watch in HD, or below I’ll embed a lower-quality version of the video.

That said, here were my beauty favourites from the past two months:

1. Make Up Forever Aqua Black Waterproof Cream Eye Shadow

IMG_0819
IMG_0732
This stuff if my new god. I’d been wanting to try this forever, but it was really Urban Decay coming out with all their new eyeliners that pushed me to try this one. Which sounds weird, but I realised that though I wanted to try the UD cream liner, this one was older, better established, I’d heard great things about it, plus it is cheaper and larger… So I went for this one. And I love it.

I’m terrible with liquid liner, even though I’ve gotten tons better over the years, but this is a hundred times easier. Where with liquid, I always would not want to mess up my nice eye makeup with a messed up line, with this, I’m confident that I can get it thin and opaque right at the lash line. And I love the look it gives, and it is perfectly waterproof and oil-proof in my experience. Love.

2. Forever 21 Sock Bun

IMG_0807
I know I am so late to this party, but these things are fantastic. I picked this up because it was only a dollar at Forever 21, and it is just so easy and pretty! It doesn’t really take much longer than a messy bun once you get your method figured out, and it lasts so much longer, and looks so much classier! There is nothing wrong with this, and I’m completely in love. The only thing I find is that it can be very hard to use on perfectly clean hair, but it is perfect for second- or third-day hair.

3. Maybelline The Rocket Volum’Express Waterproof

IMG_0813
IMG_0814
This is the mascara I bought in hopes of finding a new Maybelline Turbo Volum’Express… and I can’t believe it worked out! I usually hate rubbery brushes, but this one is fantastic! It’s not too spiky and prickly, so I don’t feel like it scratches as my lash line when I get in really close to the base, and one coat is great for black, defined lashes, and it really makes you look like you have a ton of individual lashes. With a second coat, the volume really builds up, but without clumping up. Definitely a new favourite!

4. ELF Eyebrow Kit in Light

IMG_0816
I first bought this because my favourite YouTuber, shaaanxo, uses this product all the time, and her brows are fantastic. Granted, part of that is that she just has naturally gorgeous brows, but this product certainly doesn’t hurt! It’s super easy to get a really well-defined, bold brow by using these two products together, and I find it a lot more precise, and also a better colour, than my past favourite brow product: the NYX auto brow pencil in taupe. . . though I’m still faster with a pencil. Also, the gel/wax side of this really helps to hold your brows in place, while the powder sets it for crazy staying power.

Non-beauty Favourites:

1. Floral Kimono from Forever 21

IMG_0810
The picture above doesn’t really tell you much, but this is just a pretty, floral kimono from Forever 21. I bought this as a replacement for my hoodies and sweaters, as I overheat easily, so I don’t want anything too heavy, but I like stuff to cover my arms and shoulders most of the time. Kimonos are also a lot prettier and more fashionable than hoodies, which I feel like make me look like a highschooler. They only have it in plus-size on their site, but this is what it looks like on. I’ve been wearing it with everything, and I would love to have a few more!

2. Fly Catbug Fly! (cellphone game)

IMG_0826
This game is available on both Android and iOS for $0.99, I think. It’s simple and fun, and completely adorable. If you’ve ever seen Bravest Warriors, then you’ll have some idea what to expect from this, maybe. If you haven’t, Bravest Warriors is an online, animated series of short 2-10 minute episodes. It’s goofy, sometimes a little weird, and from time to time just stupid, but Catbug is completely adorable, and makes it all worthwhile! Now you can play with him and make him pick stuff up, collect money, and dress him in weird clothes. <3

3. A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin

IMG_0823

I absolutely love this show, which you might already know if you’ve been reading a while, but I finally started in on the first book a little while ago, and it’s phenomenal! Its very close to the show, though long as hell, but it has tons of extra stuff that never made it into the show, which is super fun to read. I also love being able to experience such a cool and well-designed world in a new way. Though that may just be my love of reading. Although I’m more than half-way through this book, I won’t be hurrying through all of them any time soon, as I love the show too much to spoil it by reading ahead. As such, please do not leave any spoilers in comments or anything. Spoilers are just mean, and your God(s) will hate you if you spread them.

***

And that’s everything for the past two months! I hope you found that interesting or useful in some way. My next two videos will be a Spring-y Green Eye GRWM and a Sick-Day Makeup Tutorial (basically a no-makeup makeup look), so those will be up May 10th and May 17th respectively. I also hope to finish up my Spring Fashion/Makeup Wishlist post and have that up in the next couple weeks, so make sure to check back for those posts, and subscribe to my YouTube channel to get my videos as soon as they are posted!

I would love to hear about your favourites recently, so make sure to tell me in the comments.

Thanks for reading!
