Test-Running my Halloween Makeup!

I’m doing a rainbow-y version of Cyberpunk for halloween (just google Cyberpunk Fashion if you don’t know what I mean), so I wanted to make sure that what I had pictured in my head would be a possibility before the day dawned. Here’s a quick look at the various parts of my makeup for this Halloween!

Rainbow eyes. Sorry for the blur on the first picture:

Looks much cooler once you get the black liner and mascara on to make the colours pop:

2013-10-26 23.13.33

These eyes are really easy if you already have the makeup necessary. I used my BH Cosmetics palette colours over my Nyx Milk pencil. Then I used my brushes to pat on the colour stripes. I didn’t even blend the colours together, just overlapped them slightly, and I really love the look. If you wanted, obviously you could blend the edges and make this more of a gradient and less of a harsh rainbow!

And then, neon pink brows:

2013-10-26 23.58.48

The brows are another thing that I think look more impressive than they are. All you need to do is use the Milk pencil like on the eyes, fill in your brows with the white. Then, I used a slanted liner brush to smooth the white into the hairs, cleaned the brush, and used a hot pink shadow and patted it onto the base until I liked the saturation. This is really easy to do with any colour you want, though a matte shadow will work better than a shimmer.

And finally, my lips:

I was just planning to use my MAC Hang-up for the look, but it didn’t seem dark enough. So what I did was I used my Nyx jumbo eye pencil in Black Bean (I think), lined the outter edge, and used a lip brush to smudge the colour towards the center of my lips for a slight gradient effect. Then, I redefined the outer edges with a black eyeliner pencil. These look a little rough and patchy, but as I wore the look, the colours ended up blending together and looking cooler.

And finally, here’s the makeup with my rainbow wig:

I’ll most likely make sure to post my costume pictures here either a little before or after Halloween. If I don’t post before then, I hope you all have a fantastic time at whatever you plan to do on Halloween, be it parties, clubbing, or sitting home with your cat and some pizza! I suggest putting on a costume no matter what you’re doing, though! =P

TAG: I Love Fall!

As the name of the tag suggests, I really do love fall. I don’t really think we need further introduction. Oh, and I found this tag on Blushing Antics.

1. Favorite Fall lip product?
Dark lipsticks, but this year, I can tell it’s going to be Hang Up by MAC

2. Favorite Fall nail polish?
I love deep dark reds and purples. My 2 favourites are Oxblood by RGB and La Moss by BUTTER London

3. Favorite Fall Starbucks drink?
Pumpkin Spice Latte of course! And that’s what my next free drink is gonna be: a Venti PSL! Mmmm…

4. Favorite Fall candle?
Fall candles are the best. I love so many of them. The best one I own is the Pumpkin caramel latte, but I also really love the Pumpkin Pecan Waffles, or whatever it’s called.

5. Favorite Fall clothing item or accessory?
Currently, my leather jacket.

6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze?
None of the above, thanks. I’ll stick to scary movies.

7. Favorite Halloween movie?
Like… scary movies? Probably The Ring. Though the Skeleton Key is really good too.

8. Favorite candy to eat on Halloween?
Chocolate! Specifically? Probably KitKats and Oh Henry’s.

9. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?
Rainbow Cyberpunk. (Basically Goth, but with colours as well as black.)

10. What is your favorite thing about Fall?
The weather cools down, the falling leaves, rain, and people’s fireplaces make everything smell fantastic! Also makeup and fashion get better, and all the best TV shows return. Fall is bloody awesome =P.

A Super-Tiny, Super-Quick Haul

Alright, maybe two little things doesn’t qualify as a haul, but this is my blog so I can call it what I wanna! My boyfriend randomly decided to get me two things off my wishlist that I posted the other day… Here’s what I got:

100_3270

Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Pomegranate Punk”:

100_3276

2013-10-01 23.43.49

This is just a gorgeous red/brown/rusty/bronze-y colour, and I love it a lot. It doesn’t seem as pigmented as Bad to the Bronze, but it still looks great on it’s own, is plenty buildable, and I happen to have an eyeshadow in almost the exact same colour that should be great for layering over top!

OPI polish in “Peace & Love & OPI”:

2013-10-01 23.44.29

2013-10-02 18.45.21

2013-10-02 12.18.50

A stupid name for a bloody gorgeous polish! It looks kinda blue-grey in sad indoor lights, like at my house, but outside, there are also flashes of green and purple depending on the angle and types of lights. It’s so gorgeous, I never want it to come off my nails! *drools*

And that’s all. Thanks for reading! =)

September 2013 Favourites

I really had very few favourites last month, and just as many non-beauty favorutes as beauty ones, but I think that’s okay! So without further ado, here are my September favourites:

Bold Lips, especially Hang Up by MAC

100_3290

Although I really need a lip liner for this colour, as it’s so dark it is easy to put on messily and it feathers pretty easily. That said, I love the dark look. I’ve also been loving other bold and bright colours lately, including my other MAC lipstick (Impassioned) and also my Revlon Balm Stain in Sweetheart. But mostly Hang Up.

MAC Soft and Gentle

100_3299

It took me a while to start playing with this. I was a little scared of looking like a glitter bomb, but I love love love the look of this on my cheekbones! At first, I felt like I had to have a blush and contour on, but lately I’ve been loving just wearing this a highlight with my Milk Chocolate Soliel bronzer as a light contour.

Skin 79 Pink BB Cream

100_3286

Although I haven’t used  this a lot, the few times that I have tried it, it worked fantastic. It’s an odd colour and texture, and almost looks a little grey when I squirt it onto my hand, but once it’s buffed into my skin, it matches my face pretty well, it covers flaws without being unnatural, and it holds my face powder (especially my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Silky Beige, which is basically my perfect colour) without looking heavy or cakey. I’ve also worn it without powder once, and it my surprise, it set surprisingly well and quickly, and lasted a long time.

ELF Essential Tone Correcting Concealer in Ivory

100_3294

I’ve had this for a while now, but I’ve recently been using this on my under eyes, and I really like it. I have to make sure I set it with powder really well, because I find it doesn’t dry very well, but it does help to brighten up my eyes and make my entire look seem cleaner and more flawless.

Non-Beauty Favourites:

“Wake Me Up” by Avicii:

Image from soundisstyle.com

My current workout song. I have the entire “True” album by Avicii now, which is good, since I won’t have to over-do one 4 minute song for a 30 minute treadmill session! That said, “Wake Me Up” is a fantastic song; I love how it’s a cool mix of Country singing and techno/dance music, and it’s so happy and dance-y! I wish there was more country-techno music in the world! (Click here to watch the music video!)

Dystopian Teen Series:

100_3282

I’m just finishing up “The Selection” by Kiera Cass, but I also read “Delirium” this past month, and I took the entire series worth of books for the Selection and Delirium series’ out of the library, though I haven’t got around to them yet. Oh! And the Divergent movie is coming out, as well as Catching Fire…! It’s a great time to be into these books! =)

Cranberry Ginger Ale:

100_3287

I maybe have talked about this last year when this was last a thing, but I never had the Canada Dry brand version before! It’s even better than the PC brand, since it tastes like there’s actially cranberry juice in it (there is), and it’s just soooo gooood!

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes:

100_3284

Mmmm… I know this is everyone’s favourite (or should be), so I won’t really go on about it. Honestly, if you haven’t and you like yourself, try this. You will love it. Or else. (Also, isn’t my new mug super cool? =P)

And that’s all for this last month! Let me know what your favourites were during the month of September! Thanks for reading!

Procrastinating Beauty Blogger TAG

I found this tag on Emily’s blog (http://www.beautybroadcast.net) and decided I pretty much had to do it because I’m like the epitome of the procrastinator.

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do?
I was going to say washing my brushes, but considering the next question, I’ll pick something else. Another thing I don’t really do, though it isn’t necessary, is styling my hair. I usually towel it, brush it out, add some argan oil, and then let it dry loose.

2. Is washing your make-up brushes something that you do regularly?
Not at all, I commonly end up going months between washings.

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
An hour or two? I used to be a nail biter, and one little part of that has remained is that the moment there's something to pick at on my nails, I will chew and pick off all my nail polish. I know it’s terrible for my nails, but I can’t leave them alone.

4. How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product, even if you need it?
I don’t really. I usually buy a replacement before I’m out of something because I don’t wanna have to go without.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
Leaving my makeup on when I go to bed. I almost always forget unless I have a full face on or loves of colour. I’m a lot better at making myself in that case.

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off doing all the time?
School-work. Readings, essays, assignments… I wait until the last possible minute.

7. When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready to the last minute?
Sort of… By which I mean, usually when I’m going somewhere its in the morning/afternoon… and usually I sleep in so long that I have to rush through getting ready. If I get up in time, though I like to get ready right away as it leaves lots of time to do good makeup and make a proper outfit.

8. Can you commit to spending bans?
I’ve never tried when I had the option to spend. However, when I don’t have money to buy, I sometimes still manage to acquire makeup because my boyfriend likes to buy me things… So I’m gonna say no, a ban wouldn’t work well.

9. How organized is your make-up and nail polish collections?
Well, there’s a semblance of organization. I have a brush jar, a jar for my most used pencil and tube shaped products, a big makeup bag for my most used powder products, and three drawers, one for nail polish, one for lip and face products, and one for eye makeup… But I also have various lipsticks and lip balms, lotions, and nail polishes strewn around my room… So I try. A bit.

And that’s all the questions. Thanks for reading

Fall 2013 Wishlist

No money? Make a wishlist! It’ll feel like you’re shopping without any of the spending money, or any of the having cool new stuff! Yeah, it sounds depressing, but for now it’s the best I can do. Besides, it’s fun to want stuff, right? Plus, maybe it will be good motivation for me to work harder at getting a new job…

Most of this wishlist this time is makeup, since there isn’t a whole lot that I need or want fashion-wise right now. I have boots, heels, scarves, new jeans, tons of bras/underwear/socks/shirts/hoodies/jackets… and nothing trendy that I’ve noticed and fallen for recently. But there is plenty of makeup that’s been slowly adding itself to my list over the last little while…

1. More Maybelline Colour Tattoo colours

Image from Eyemasq.wordpress.com

Basically, I adore the one i have (Bad to the Bronze) more than I thought possible before buying it, and now I want more colours.. Maybe Barely Branded, Bold Gold, or one of the blue or green coloured ones? *shrugs*

2. Peace & Love & OPI by OPI

Image from Swatchandlearn.com

This colour is simply gorgeous. It’s like, multi-chrome and shiny and sparkly… I kinda just want it. A lot.

3. Lorac Pro Palette

Image from En.paperblog.com

Everybody on YouTube raves about this palette, but especially Emily (emilynoel83 on YouTube), whose opinion I really respect. Plus, all the swatches and looks I’ve seen done with this palette just look so wonderful. I believe it’s $55 Canadian from the Sephora site (I’ve never seen it in a store), but it comes with 16 shadows… though this palette has just over half the product of a Naked Palette, so I’m not sure it’s worth the price…. As you can see, I’m still a tad conflicted.

4. Maybelline Vivids Lipstick(s)

Image from Beautezine.com

Not sure what colour, but Ania (annabellesmakeup on YouTube) raves about these all the time, and when I’ve swatched them in stores they always look so bright and pigmented and fabulous, so I’d love to try one out more seriously.

5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Black Cherry (?)

Image from Pinkpineapple8.blogspot.ca

There’s a question mark on this one, because, although I wanted this one since about the end of last winter, I think I may now have the same colour. Swatches online look a lot like my MAC lipstick in Hang Up… That said, I’d love to give it a swatch; if I remember correctly, there’s also a really cool dark purple-y lipstick that I think is also Revlon. I’d have to try to swatch this one myself before making any decisions.

6. Gel liner

Image from Myeyeshadowconsultant.com

Not sure what brand. I have heard good things about the Makeup Forever Aqua liner, the MAC Fluidline, the NYX gel liner, and the Maybelline Master Drama gel liner. More research is required!

7. Katy Perry Killer Queen perfume

Image from Pausaparafeminices.com

I’ve honestly only smelled this one once, and I haven’t fallen in love yet, but I did really like it. Also the bottle is so so pretty! The scent reminded me a bit of my favourite cheap/celebrity perfume, the original Paris Hilton one, since it’s a bit floral-y, not super sweet, but also not super heavy.

So that’s about all I can think of for now. Let me know what’s on your wishlist in the comments. Thanks for reading!
